Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons Olive Oil or Cooking Oil
- 1/3 cup Onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt
- 2 cups Jasmine Rice
- 3 cups Water
- 1 whole Lime, juiced (about 2 tablespoons if your lime is not juicy)
- 1/3 cup Cilantro leaves, chopped
Instructions
- Sauté Aromatics: In a large sauté pan or pot with a lid, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until it starts to soften and becomes fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add Garlic and Rice: Stir in the minced garlic, jasmine rice, and sea salt. Cook while stirring until the rice grains become translucent and the garlic releases its aroma, about 1-2 minutes.
- Simmer Rice: Pour in the water and stir to combine. Cover the pot and bring to a simmer. Once simmering, reduce heat to low and cook without stirring until all the water is absorbed and the rice is tender, approximately 15-20 minutes.
- Fluff and Add Flavor: Remove the pot from heat. Fluff the rice gently with a fork, then stir in the fresh lime juice and chopped cilantro. Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh and vibrant flavors.
Notes
- Do not stir the rice while it cooks to prevent it from becoming sticky.
- Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
- If you prefer, use cooking oil instead of olive oil for a neutral taste.
- This rice pairs well with Mexican, Southwestern, and grilled dishes.
- For a vegetarian dish, ensure that the cooking oil used is plant-based.
