Ingredients
Scale
Steak Marinade
- 1 lb sirloin steak
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Tzatziki Sauce
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup grated cucumber, excess water squeezed out
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Bowl Assembly
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 cucumber, diced
- 2 cups cooked grains (brown rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice)
- Fresh herbs (parsley or dill) for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper. Thoroughly coat the sirloin steak with this marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors infuse.
- Prepare the Tzatziki Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix plain Greek yogurt with grated cucumber, lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped dill, salt, and pepper. Stir well and chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Cook the Steak: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Place the marinated steak in the skillet and cook for 4–5 minutes on each side until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Once cooked, remove from heat and let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing thinly to retain juices.
- Assemble the Bowls: Use the cooked grains as the base in each serving bowl. Layer with sliced steak, halved cherry tomatoes, and diced cucumber. Drizzle generously with the chilled tzatziki sauce and garnish with fresh parsley or dill for a burst of freshness. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a low-carb option, substitute cooked grains with cauliflower rice.
- Letting the steak rest after cooking is essential for juicy, tender slices.
- You can prepare the marinade and tzatziki sauce a day ahead to save time.
- Adjust garlic and herbs in the tzatziki to suit your taste preferences.
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best bright flavor.
