Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 1 can Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
Filling
- 3/4 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to prepare for baking the rolls.
- Mix Filling Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, light corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla extract, and the large egg. Stir well to incorporate all ingredients evenly. Reserve 2 tablespoons of this mixture for glazing later.
- Incorporate Pecans: Add the chopped pecans to the remaining sugar mixture in the bowl and stir until the nuts are evenly coated with the filling mixture.
- Assemble Rolls: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into individual triangles on the lined baking sheet. Spoon about 2 to 3 tablespoons of the pecan filling onto the widest end of each triangle. Carefully roll the dough from the wide end toward the narrow end to form crescent rolls.
- Initial Bake: Place the prepared rolls in the preheated oven and bake for 8 minutes until the dough begins to set and the filling starts to thicken.
- Glaze and Finish Baking: Remove the rolls from the oven and brush each with the reserved 2 tablespoons of sugar mixture to add shine and extra sweetness. Return the rolls to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until they are lightly golden brown and fully cooked.
- Optional Garnish: Once baked, remove the rolls from the oven, and optionally sprinkle additional chopped pecans on top for added texture and flavor before serving.
Notes
- Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Ensure the egg is well whisked before combining with other ingredients to help the filling set properly.
- If you prefer a less sweet filling, reduce the sugar slightly but keep the corn syrup for texture and moisture.
- The reserved sugar mixture used as a glaze helps give the rolls a beautiful glossy finish.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days; reheat briefly before serving for best texture.
