  • Author: Naomi
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 38 sausage balls 1x

Description

This Sausage Ball Recipe is the perfect party appetizer! Flavorful breakfast sausage is mixed with Bisquick baking mix, sharp cheddar cheese, and a blend of spices, then baked to a golden-brown perfection. Crispy on the outside and cheesy inside, these bite-sized treats are ideal for gatherings or game day snacks.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz) roll breakfast sausage (preferably hot)
  • 2 cups Bisquick baking mix
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (16 oz) block sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
  2. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a rimmed baking sheet with a silicone baking mat. Place a wire oven-safe cooling rack on top of the baking sheet and spray the rack generously with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  3. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the breakfast sausage, Bisquick baking mix, granulated sugar, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. Then add the shredded cheddar cheese and fold it in evenly with the sausage mixture.
  4. Form Sausage Balls: Using a small cookie scoop, portion the mixture into approximately 32 equal bites. Roll each portion with your hands to form smooth, even balls. Place the formed sausage balls evenly spaced on the prepared cooling rack on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 25 minutes or until the sausage balls are golden brown and the sausage is fully cooked through.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with honey mustard, sour cream, or your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • Storage: Keep sausage balls in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 4 months.
  • Reheating: Reheat in the oven or microwave until heated through. Thaw frozen sausage balls before reheating.
  • For extra crispiness, bake until golden brown on all sides.
  • Adjust the spiciness by choosing mild or hot sausage as preferred.
