  • Author: Naomi
  • Total Time: 6 hours 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Pork Chops recipe offers a tender, flavorful meal perfect for a convenient yet delicious dinner. Pork chops are slow-cooked in a luscious honey garlic sauce enriched with soy sauce, ginger, and garlic, resulting in juicy chops infused with a subtly sweet and savory glaze. Easily prepared with minimal effort, it makes an ideal hearty main course paired with steamed vegetables or rice.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 bone-in or boneless pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger (or 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Optional Thickening Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Optional Garnish

  • Sliced green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, ground ginger, black pepper, and onion powder until fully combined and smooth.
  2. Prepare the Pork Chops: Season both sides of the pork chops with salt and additional black pepper to taste. Arrange the chops evenly in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  3. Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce evenly over the pork chops, making sure each chop is well coated with the flavorful mixture.
  4. Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 4 to 6 hours or on high heat for 2 to 3 hours. The pork chops are done when they are tender and reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  5. Thicken the Sauce (Optional): About 30 minutes before serving, mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl to form a slurry. Stir this mixture into the sauce in the slow cooker and remove the lid to cook uncovered, allowing the sauce to thicken.
  6. Serve: Spoon the honey garlic sauce over the pork chops when serving. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired for added flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Bone-in pork chops generally provide more flavor and juiciness but boneless can be used for quicker cooking.
  • Use low sodium soy sauce to control salt levels.
  • Adjust ginger amount or type (ground vs. fresh) based on preference.
  • Thicken the sauce only if you prefer a glaze-like consistency; otherwise, serve it as a flavorful broth.
  • Serve with steamed rice or vegetables to make a complete meal.
